Minnesota LB reportedly switching to RB for Saturday's game vs. Maryland
Minnesota is coming off a win against Nebraska 30-23 as they welcome Maryland to Minneapolis, MN., this afternoon.
The Golden Gophers have had terrible luck at the RB position as 2020 B1G Running Back of the Year Mohamed Ibrahim is out for the season with an injury.
Backup RB Trey Potts is also out for the season with an injury. The Gophers are finding anyone with a pulse who can run the ball.
The Gophers are having LB Derik LeCaptain is going to switch to RB.
Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press provides more context on the situation:
Note: With #Gophers down to three scholarship running backs, it looks like Derik LeCaptain has switched positions from linebacker to running back. LeCaptain had an ENORMOUS high school career at Southern Door in Wisconsin, setting state record for career scrimmage yards.
