Minnesota loses another RB to injury in showdown vs. Northwestern
Minnesota must truly have a cursed backfield this season with the Gophers losing their top two running backs early in the season.
It started with the devastating injury to star Mo Ibrahim in the season opener against Ohio State. Despite having a big game against the Buckeyes, Ibrahim was injured late and has not been available since.
After that, Trey Potts was injured in action and spent time in the hospital before returning to Minnesota. He is also out for the season.
Now, the Gophers must deal with an injury to Bryce Williams who was banged up and needed to be carted off the field against Northwestern. If he is unable to return in the second half, Minnesota will be down to two scholarship running backs in Ky Thomas and Mar’Keise Irving.
Thomas led the way in the first half with 77 yards while Irving had 31 yards and a touchdown.
Bryce Williams being carted off.
Minnesota has two healthy running backs on the entire roster now.

Update: #Gophers running back Bryce Williams can’t put weight on his left leg and is carted off the field, per @jgkfan. It looks like Minnesota will be down to TWO scholarship running backs — freshmen Ky Thomas and Mar’Keise Irving — for final three quarters vs. Northwestern.
