Minnesota receiver Dylan Wright has entered the transfer portal, according to a report.

That’s per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who notes that Wright will be entering the portal as a graduate transfer.

Wright played a significant role in the Gophers’ passing game over the past 2 seasons. He has 35 catches for 645 yards and 3 touchdowns during his career with Minnesota. He averaged an impressive 18.4 yards per reception as well.

A former 4-star prospect, Wright began his career at Texas A&M. He transferred to Minnesota after not playing at all in 2019 or 2020.

What this means for Minnesota

Wright finished 4th on the team in receptions and receiving yards last season. Daniel Jackson, who led the team with 557 receiving yards, is expected to return next season.

However, the Gophers will have to replace a significant amount of their receiver production. Mike Brown-Stephens has also entered the portal after finishing 3rd on the team in receiving a season ago.

Minnesota does return veteran Chris Autman-Bell, who was limited to just 3 games a year ago due to injury. Autman-Bell has 125 catches during his Minnesota career.

Minnesota’s spring game is on April 22.
