A Minnesota punter has decided to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Earlier this week, redshirt freshman Tom Foley announced that he has decided to hit the transfer database to explore his options. He can enter his name in the portal and still return to Minnesota, if that’s his best option.

“I would like to say thank you to Coach Fleck and Coach Wenger for giving me the opportunity to become a Golden Gopher,” Foley wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to all my teammates who pushed me to become my best. After talking it over with my family and friends I have decided to put my name in the transfer portal. RTB!”

Foley was a walk-on punter from Peoria, Illinois. He used the 2019 season as a redshirt season at Minnesota and did not see any game action for the Gophers.

Minnesota ended the 2019 season with an 11-2 record.
