Minnesota’s offense just took another big hit.

The Golden Gophers are already down running back Mo Ibrahim for the season, and they announced Monday that leading rusher Trey Potts is also out for the year.

That’s a huge blow for Minnesota. Potts leads the Golden Gophers with 552 yards and 6 touchdowns this year, filling in well for Ibrahim — the 2020 B1G Running Back of the Year. He suffered an injury against Purdue that sent him to the hospital for six days. Coach PJ Fleck still hasn’t said what the injury was.

Now, with 7 games left on the schedule, Fleck and Minnesota have to get creative to fill yet another hole at the RB spot. The remaining games aren’t too tough, outside of No. 2 Iowa in Week 11, but it’ll be interesting to see how the offensive scheme changes without Potts in the backfield.
