Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan makes decision on 2022 season
After last season’s loss to Wisconsin, during Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan’s post game Zoom interviews he made a promise. A fired up Morgan told Gophers Athletic Director Mark Coyle that, “We’re gonna win that thing next year,” with some colorful adjectives included.
Morgan made good on his guarantee with the Gophers 23-13 win over Wisconsin on Saturday, and while he was glad to make good on his pledge, the senior added a kicker.
“I’ll be back,” Morgan told the Pioneer Press after the Wisconsin win.

Morgan didn’t participate in Senior Day activities on Saturday. He will be using his sixth season of eligibility, made possible by the NCAA’s decision to allow the 2020 season not to count against a student athlete’s eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Morgan started out slow against the Badgers, but bounced back after Wisconsin tipped pass resulted in a pick six in the second quarter. But his 27-yard touchdown pass to Chris Autman-Bell put the Gophers up 20-13 in the third quarter. Morgan finished the game with 11-fo19 passing for 199 yards.
