Minnesota just lost another one of its running backs to a season-ending injury.

Junior running back Bryce Williams has now joined Trey Potts and Mohamed Ibrahim on the injury report. Potts was diagnosed with an upper-body ailment after the fourth quarter of the Golden Gopher’s win against Purdue in Week 5. Ibrahim had a leg injury that ended his season after the Ohio State game in Week 1.

Now Williams will be out for the year after suffering a leg injury following the win over Northwestern.

The news was confirmed via Twitter on Tuesday.

Williams had 186 yards rushing with three touchdowns up until his most recent injury.

The running back core for Minnesota will now have to rely on Mar’Keise Irving, Preston Jelen, Kendall Moore, and Ky Thomas to get the job done on the ground with running back Cam Wiley entering the transfer portal in October of 2021.

It’ll be interesting to see who the Golden Gophers decide to go with at running back with so many of them injured.
