Minnesota RB Cam Wiley holds on through contact for opening TD of the Axe Game
Minnesota opened the scoring of the Border Battle with a nice grab by Cam Wiley!
After an original cancellation and eventual rescheduling, Minnesota and Wisconsin are finally able to get the annual rivalry contest in. It should be a good game, and the Gophers opened the scoring late in the first quarter.
It came on a simple out and up route by Wiley out of the backfield. There was a lapse in coverage as Wiley was initially open before the Badgers safety barreled down on him.
The throw beat the safety by a step, but it was still far from an easy grab for Wiley. The hit by the defender looked like it may dislodge the ball with Wiley bobbling it before securing the grab.
In the end, the Wisconsin defender bounced off after the hit with Wiley holding on and securing the catch for the touchdown. It goes down as the first receiving touchdown for Wiley’s Minnesota career:
Cam Wiley is a RB.
