Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim Jr. is only a freshman, but you can tell he’s learned some important lessons early in his career. And he’s already putting that knowledge to good use.

On Monday, Ibrahim was named the B1G’s Freshman of the Week following a breakout performance against Ohio State on Saturday. He rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, helping to Gophers stay in the ball game with one of the top programs in the country.

But the running back wasn’t about to take all the credit for his accomplishment. Instead, he gave a shoutout to his blockers after learning of the honor.

“This is cool and all, but did y’all see the [Gophers offensive line]?!” Ibrahim said on Twitter.

Minnesota’s offensive line did do a great job of opening running lanes against one of the best defensive fronts in the B1G. Without the push up front, Ibrahim would’ve had a much rougher day.

Ibrahim has played in four games this season, rushing for 415 yards on 71 totes. The two touchdowns against Ohio State were the first of his career.

The Gophers came up short on the road in Columbus but Saturday was a promising sign for Ibrahim, the offensive line and the direction of the program.

And if Ibrahim continues to take care of his offensive linemen, he’s going to have a lot of success with the Gophers.
