Minnesota has received plenty of commitments in the month of June, but it got one of its biggest on Tuesday.

Three-star athlete Itayvion Brown gave his verbal commitment to the Golden Gophers on Tuesday, making his announcement on Twitter. The St. Louis native becomes the 21st player to commit to the class and is currently the highest-rated prospect in 2020 to join Minnesota’s movement.

Brown ranks just outside the top 400 overall prospects in the 2020 class. Part of his appeal is his incredible versatility, as he’s played linebacker and wide receiver at the high school level. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Missouri prospect can be a huge asset for the Gophers in the future.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brown ranks as the No. 27 athlete in the class and is one of the top 10 players out of Missouri. Near the heart of B1G recruiting country, Brown received offers from six B1G programs and three SEC schools. Most notably, the three-star athlete chose the Gophers over Iowa, Michigan State, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

Minnesota has now cracked the top 25 in the recruiting ranks nationally, sitting in the No. 25 spot. The Gophers’ 2020 class is also ranked as the fifth-best in the B1G currently.
