Nick Murphy, Minnesota’s director of on-campus recruiting, has accepted an opportunity elsewhere.

On Tuesday morning, he announced via his Twitter account that he would be leaving the Gophers to be the Director of Player Personnel at The University of North Carolina Charlotte.

This is a homecoming for Murphy after he was originally at Charlotte where he worked with the defensive line. After he had that position, he joined Minnesota as the Director of On-Campus Recruiting. Prior to both of those rolls, Murphy was with USF (South Florida) as a graduate assistant and worked with the offensive line.

He’s also worked for a couple other programs/teams as well, and that includes the Houston Texans. Murphy was a scouting intern for them during the Summer of 2018 and he also was a recruiting specialist at Texas in 2016 and 2017.

Murphy was part of Minnesota’s 2021 recruiting class and it ended up being ranked the 38th best in the country, 8th in the B1G. The Gophers got four 4-star recruits under his watch and the average ranking of each recruit was 0.8717.
