Minnesota defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. has made the decision about his future. The B1G Defensive Back of the Year has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, forgoing is final season with the Gophers.

Winfield made his announcement in an Instagram post on Wednesday. After an outstanding 2019 campaign, the safety was expected to declare for the draft, but was taking his time in making the decision.

Winfield had an outstanding 2019 campaign during Minnesota’s historic 11-2 season. He was named the B1G Defensive Back of the Year after totaling 88 tackles, a conference-best seven interceptions, collecting three sacks, forcing two fumbles and recording a pick-six. He was also an All-American selection.

Last season, Winfield’s year was cut short after suffering a season-ending injury. He bounced back in a huge way this fall for the Gophers.

In four years with Minnesota, Winfield collected 177 tackles, seven stops for loss and nine interceptions.
