Minnesota will conclude the 2024 season in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against Virginia Tech on Jan. 3, but the Golden Gophers are staying busy when it comes to the transfer portal.

On Monday, former UCLA wide receiver Logan Loya announced that he would be going to Minnesota.

Loya spent his first 5 college seasons at UCLA, finishing his time in Los Angeles with 109 catches for 1,314 yards and 12 touchdowns. His best season was in 2023 when he finished with 59 catches for 655 yards and 5 touchdowns.

This past season, Loya’s production decreased as he finished with 29 catches for 348 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Bruins played against Minnesota this past season, and Loya finished with 4 catches for 45 yards in the game.

Before visiting the Golden Gophers, Loya also took visits to California and Stanford but decided to take his talents to the Midwest. Minnesota went 7-5 on the season, but there is a lot of optimism that the team could be on the rise heading into 2025. Of their 5 losses this season, 4 of them were by 7 points or less.

Loya adds a veteran piece to a Minnesota offense that will need to reload at a couple of places ahead of next season. Quarterback Max Brosmer and leading receiver Daniel Jackson will both be out of eligibility after the bowl game.

Kickoff between the Gophers and Hokies will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN with the game taking place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
