Minnesota’s depth along the defensive line is taking a hit.

According to Ryan Burns of 247Sports, senior defensive tackle Keonte Schad has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He spent two seasons at Minnesota, transferring in from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa.

Schad appeared in four games for the Golden Gophers last season and was credited with 8 tackles. He posted a season-high 3 stops in Minnesota’s win over Nebraska late in the season and had two tackles in both the Michigan and Wisconsin games.

Last season, Schad was an Academic All-B1G selection.

In 2019, Schad played in all 13 games at Minnesota during an impressive 11-2 campaign. He was responsible for 21 stops and totaled 2.5 tackles for loss throughout the course of the season. Schad recorded a career-best 5 tackles in a win over Georgia Southern, including 1 for loss.

Schad will have one year of eligibility to use at his next destination.
