Gable Steveson visited Minnesota’s football practice on Tuesday afternoon, fresh off completing one of the best comebacks in Olympic wrestling history.

Steveson won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics last week after scoring a pair of two-point takedowns in the final seconds.

On Tuesday, Gophers’ coach P.J. Fleck was excited to welcome him into practice. The players appreciated his presence, too. He arrived to chants of, “USA! USA!”

This win tops Steveson’s growing list of wrestling accolades. He also won gold at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis earlier this year and is the two-time reigning Big Ten champion in the 285-pound weight class.

On the gridiron, Minnesota opens its 2021 season on Sept. 2 against Ohio State.
