Minnesota's Athan Kaliakmanis connects with Larry Wright for impressive TD in spring game
Tanner Morgan might be the guy under center for the Golden Gophers, but Athan Kaliakmanis is trying to show that he’ll be a quality backup for the team heading into the 2022 season.
Early in Saturday afternoon’s spring game, Kaliakmanis delivered a beautiful ball to wide receiver Larry Wright. After Wright put a move on the defender, he was able to jog into the end zone to give the Gold Team the first touchdown of the game.
It was a 27-yard touchdown pass to begin the scoring for the Gold Team:

Kaliakmanis is a redshirt freshman for the Golden Gophers entered the 2022 season. Wright, who has not seen game action during his first three seasons with the program, is looking to carve out a role in the wide receiver room.
Saturday will mark the end of spring practice for Minnesota. The spring game was moved from Huntington Bank Stadium and into the indoor facility.
