Minnesota’s defense finally showed up in College Park.

Midway through the second quarter of Friday night’s game, Gophers redshirt freshman defensive lineman DeAngelo Carter made a big-time play, intercepting a pass from Terps QB Taulia Tagovailoa. His play eventually set up a Minnesota touchdown that tied the game at 21-21.

The pass had been tipped, and Carter had the awareness to haul in the football and race the other direction. Below is the clip:

That was the first stop of the game for the Minnesota defense, which had been getting torched all through the first 20 minutes of the contest. It was a huge momentum-swinging moment.

Chris Autman-Bell made a really nice catch to put Minnesota inside the Maryland 1-yard line. Mohamed Ibrahim scored a touchdown on 3rd down to tie the game up.

Because of the interception, Minnesota was able to tie the game despite trailing 21-7.
