Eric Curry is coming back for one more year.

Tuesday, the Minnesota forward announced on social media that he will be returning to Minneapolis for one more season. It will be his sixth year with the Golden Gophers. He’ll be taking advantage of the NCAA’s additional year of eligibility for all winter student-athletes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Curry played in 29 games for the Gophers last season, making 8 starts. He averaged 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds while logging nearly 16 minutes per contest. He shot 44.2% from the floor and 62.1% from the free throw line during the 2020-21 season.

The 6-foot-9 forward has dealt with injuries throughout his career and missed the 2017-18 and 2019-20 seasons. Over the course of his five seasons at Minnesota, Curry has played in 78 career games with 15 starts. In that time, he’s scored 355 points, grabbed 312 rebounds and dished out 92 assists.

Curry rejoins a Minnesota team that has undergone a coaching change in the offseason. The school fired head coach Richard Pitino and brought back former Gopher and staff member Ben Johnson to run the program.
