Minnesota is going up against Bowling Green in Tuesday’s Quick Lane Bowl.

The Falcons led 10-9 at the half against the Golden Gophers. Despite a close game, the liveliness of the game was quickly noted in the ESPN broadcast booth.

“Started as a track meet, turned into a turtle race,” said Dustin Fox, an ESPN college football analyst.

Connor Onion, the Quick Lane Bowl’s play-by-play announcer who also calls games for the Big Ten Network, said Tuesday’s game “turned into a classic Big Ten West Game.”

Minnesota is currently leading 30-24 in the fourth quarter against Bowling Green. The Golden Gophers are being anchored by freshman tailback Darius Taylor, who has over 200 yards rushing and a touchdown.

The Golden Gophers went 5-7 during the regular season. After starting out 5-3, Minnesota lost its last four games.

The teams’ biggest win of the season was on Oct. 21 in a 12-10 triumph over Iowa. The Hawkeyes were ranked No. 24 before the loss.
