Winning the starting job over sophomore Zack Annexstad in fall camp, redshirt sophomore Tanner Morgan has continued his strong play during Minnesota’s 4-0 start.

So strong in fact, there’s a case to be made for Morgan as the second-best B1G quarterback thus far, trailing only Ohio State’s Justin Fields.

Each of the three to rank above Morgan are widely considered Heisman Trophy candidates.

Idle on September 28, Burrow and the No. 4 LSU Tigers are off to a 4-0 start. Connecting on 100-124 pass attempts, the former Ohio State Buckeye has thrown for 1,520 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception, plus an additional score on the ground.

Another graduate transfer, Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts began his career at Alabama. Following in the footsteps of previous Heisman winners Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, Hurts has totaled 1,736 yards during No. 6 Oklahoma’s 4-0 start.

Likely to move into the top-25 following their 38-31 victory over Purdue on September 28, Morgan threw for 396 yards and four touchdowns in the win over the Boilermakers. He has been responsible for 11 touchdowns in 2019.
