Mohamed Ibrahim went off with an electric performance against Iowa in Week 12. Unfortunately, all Minnesota will be able to relish from this one is another bitter and hard-fought defeat at the hands of the Hawkeyes.

In that game, Ibrahim went off for a career-high 263 rushing yards on 39 carries with a touchdown against Iowa. He carried the ball 39 times for 6.7 yards per carry and had a long run of 54 yards.

Unfortunately, Ibrahim did have a costly fumble deep in the red zone against the Hawkeyes. Even though it came in a loss, it is hard to overlook the impact and effort Ibrahim put on display.

In the 13-10 defeat, Ibrahim accounted for 263 of Minnesota’s 399 total yards of offense. And despite carrying the ball nearly 40 times, Ibrahim was supremely effective in yards per carry.

The 263 rushing yards top Ibrahim’s previous career-high of 224. He did that twice: in a bowl game against Georgia Tech in 2018 and on the road against Illinois in 2020. It is the 5th game of 200+ rushing yards in Ibrahim’s career.

In terms of the program, Ibrahim’s 263 rushing yards are 4th for a single game in Golden Gopher history. It is the most for a Minnesota RB since Laurence Maroney rushed for 258 in 2005.
