The New York Jets have had a number of quarterback issues in the 2022 season. For Thursday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jets are elevating a former Minnesota QB from the practice squad.

The Jets announced Thursday evening that Chris Streveler is being elevated for the game and will return to the practice squad afterward. Streveler played for the Gophers before transferring to South Dakota to finish his career.

Zach Wilson is expected to start for the Jets on TNF but it’s not out of the question that the team dials up a package of plays for Streveler. Wilson has struggled — heavily, at times — this season.

Wilson’s struggles were bad enough that New York benched the QB in favor of Mike White. Unfortunately, White was injured recently and has yet to be cleared with a rib injury.

Streveler threw for over 6,000 yards with 54 touchdowns at South Dakota before getting his professional start in the Canadian Football League. He scored 2 offensive touchdowns across 2014-15 with the Gophers.

We’ll see if Streveler gets a chance to make a play on the big stage, but weather conditions will be less than favorable for both sides Thursday night.
