An Ohio linebacker has had a change of heart.

Three-star outside linebacker Devon Williams had originally committed to Kentucky in January, but has decided that another opportunity was too good to pass up. On Friday, Williams announced that he was flipping his commitment to Minnesota and becomes the ninth player in the 2021 class to pledge to the Gophers.

“After talking it over with my family I would like to announce that I am decommitted from the University of Kentucky,” Williams wrote. “Thank you to the coaches, staff and fans. The opportunity given as well as the support was greatly appreciated.

“I would like to also announce that I am 100% committed to the University of Minnesota!”

Per 247Sports, Williams is ranked as one of the top 500 players in the 2021 recruiting class, coming in at No. 450 overall. He’s also listed as the No. 29 outside linebacker in the cycle.

With Williams’ commitment, Minnesota’s class ranks 15th nationally and seventh in the B1G.

Along with offers from Minnesota and Kentucky, Williams received interest from Indiana, Iowa State, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Pitt, Rutgers and West Virginia.
