P.J. Fleck earns national honor following Minnesota's win over No. 4 Penn State
Following Minnesota’s big upset win over No. 4 Penn State on Saturday, P.J. Fleck has earned some national recognition.
Tuesday morning, The Dodd Trophy announced that Fleck was named this week’s Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week. The 17th-ranked Gophers defeated Penn State 31-26 in Minneapolis, notching the team’s first marquee win of the season.
From the TheDooddTrophy.com:
The Dodd Trophy of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
Minnesota is now 9-0 this season with an excellent chance to win the B1G West and compete for a B1G championship in early December. The Gophers will also likely take a big leap in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night.
In his third season with the Gophers, Fleck is 21-13 as the head coach.
