P.J. Fleck has done some major things on the recruiting trail in such a short time at Minnesota. And on Wednesday, it translated to some big names signing with the Gophers.

A few IMG Academy stars, a top junior college quarterback and a slew of heavily recruited players all agreed to join Fleck at Minnesota. Right now, the Gophers own the top ranked recruiting class in the B1G West and one that falls in the top 30 nationally.

How is Fleck having so much success? Or maybe the better question is, what are the type of prospects he’s been able to land this recruiting season?

Fleck addressed that during his press conference on Wednesday.

Fleck is wanting to bring multi-sport athletes to Minnesota and he’s done just that with his first full recruiting class. 25 of the 26 prospects that signed with the Gophers played multiple sports.

It’s not necessarily a new philosophy in recruiting, but targeting those athletes has paid off early for Minnesota.

Don’t expect Fleck’s approach to change anytime soon, especially considering the fact that he’s working on one of Minnesota’s best recruiting classes in program history.
