Marching bands and college football go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s just one aspect of college football that makes the sports so unique and special.

This week, P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota football team wanted to thank the Gophers band in a special way before Saturday’s game against Nebraska.

According to Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press, Fleck invited the marching band to the indoor practice facility and purchased pizza for the members. Golden Gopher football players also gave members around 120 hand-written letters to thank them for the support throughout the season.

Not every college football coach or program does something like that, but it has to be a special moment for the band members to feel that appreciation. And the Gophers will need that extra support this weekend, hosting Nebraska in a B1G West clash.

Marching bands stand by their team through the good times and the bad. Fleck and the Gophers wanted to show their appreciation for that.
