P.J. Fleck surprises Minnesota walk-on RB with scholarship
One of the most feel-good things in college football is when a hard working walk-on gets rewarded with a scholarship.
Minnesota captured the special moment on video as a surprise for running back Preston Jelen, incorporating best-selling author Jon Gordon into the awesome announcement.

What a heart-warming memory that the Jelen will always look back on fondly.
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Jelen appeared in seven games last season for Minnesota, tallying five tackles on special teams along with a blocked punt. Jelen was an Academic All-B1G selection in 2019 and 2020.
The Minnesota native was a Mr. Football finalist and captured All-State and All-Metro honors in high school.
Minnesota opens the season on Sept. 2 with a primetime home matchup against defending B1G champion Ohio State (8 p.m. EST/FOX).
