On Thursday night, Baylor defeated West Virginia on ESPN to improve to 8-0 overall. Good for the Bears.

But, more exciting for Big Ten fans was the fact that Pat McAfee, a former NFL punter who was in the booth calling the game, revealed his top six teams in college football. Why is that interesting?

McAfee, like many, have Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson and LSU in his top four. OK, whatever. But, look at his first two out.

Minnesota!

The Golden Gophers are the fifth-best team in the country according to McAfee. By the way, McAfee played at West Virginia. He has no ties to be a “homer” with the Gophers.

We haven’t seen this type of love for Minnesota in a very long time. That said, it’s been a very long time since the Gophers have been undefeated going into the month of November.

Minnesota has a bye this weekend and will host undefeated Penn State on Nov. 9.
