PJ Fleck announces Co-OC appointments following Kirk Ciarrocca's departure
After losing former offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca to Rutgers over the weekend, Minnesota has quickly replaced its former offensive coordinator with Co-OCs in Greg Harbaugh, who joins Matt Simon as co-offensive coordinator. Simon has held the role since 2020.
Harbaugh gets the promotion from tight ends coach and will now serve as both the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Simon will serve as the wide receivers coach along with the new co-offensive coordinator role.
Harbaugh and Simon both have history with head coach PJ Fleck as they have been on his staff for a combined 14 years.
Minnesota has boasted one of the best rushing offenses in the country under Ciarrocca. Now, it will be up to Simon and Harbaugh to continue that performance as co-OCs for Fleck and the Gophers.
The Golden Gophers are coming off a solid 9-4 season and looking to continue their growth heading into the 2023 season. With a new look coming to the coaching staff, it could be the change they need to get over the hump next season.
