PJ Fleck names former Michigan assistant Jayden Everett RB coach
PJ Fleck was busy filling out his coaching staff for this fall with numerous hirings on Tuesday, headlined by new running backs coach Jayden Everett, who will basically be going right from Michigan to Minnesota.
But Everett’s path to Minneapolis comes with a slight twist. He was briefly on the staff at South Alabama after spending the 2024 season in Ann Arbor coaching the Wolverines’ running backs. But his time at South Alabama was so brief that Everett is more or less going from 1 Big Ten school to another one.
Everett has also coached the running backs at Vanderbilt, Tulsa, Akron, Central Michigan, Indiana State and Hutchinson Community College (Kan.).
Fleck also announced on Tuesday the hiring of Nick Faus (assistant wide receivers coach); Jordan Hendy (offensive analyst); Christian Pawola (assistant defensive backs coach); and C.J. Robbins (rush ends coach). Faus, Pawola and Robbins have all worked at Minnesota previously, and Hendy is joining the Golden Gophers from Pittsburg State (Kan.).
While at Michigan, Everett helped mentor Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards, who combined for 1,537 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2024.
Prior to his time at Michigan, Everett spent the 2023 season at Vanderbilt. While in Nashville, he helped Sedrick Alexander earn SEC All-Freshman honors, as Alexander led all SEC freshmen in rushing yards and was the only freshman in the SEC with 4 or more rushing touchdowns.
