Antoine Winfield Jr. isn’t bashful about what it would mean to suit up for the Minnesota Vikings. Growing up watching his father sport the purple uniform, the former Golden Gophers safety thinks it would be a really cool experience.

“That would be incredible,” Winfield said smiling on Friday during the NFL Scouting Combine. “When my dad played, I grew up a Vikings fan. So that would just be incredible to play for Minnesota after watching them for all these years.”

Antoine Winfield Sr. played  in the NFL for 15 seasons, spending nine of those years with the Vikings (2004-12). So following in his father’s footsteps would be a pretty cool experience for the younger Winfield.

Last season, Winfield had an outstanding season with the Golden Gophers. He was named the B1G Defensive Back of the Year after totaling 88 tackles, seven interceptions, three sacks and two forced fumbles.

While Winfield would be ecstatic just to hear his name called during the 2020 NFL Draft, he can’t deny that it would be really special if he joined the Vikings.
