Former Minnesota receiver Rashod Bateman is generating some NFL draft buzz during the pre-draft process.

With NFL draft comp season being in full swing, Pro Football focus revealed their comp for Bateman on Wednesday afternoon.

The result: Los Angeles Chargers star receiver Keenan Allen.

Allen has somewhat slipped the under the radar in recent years, but he’s still amongst the elite receivers in the NFL. He came just eight yards short of extending his streak of 1,000-yard campaigns to four.

He’s a high volume pass catcher who has caught at least 97 passes in each of the past four years.

Bateman wasn’t used quite that heavily at Minnesota, but that could change in an NFL offense — especially if he lands with the right quarterback. He caught 147 passes, 2,395 yards and 19 touchdowns in his career with the Gophers.

There’s not currently a consensus on where Bateman will land in the NFL draft this April. It’s possible he’s chosen in the first round, but there’s a number of excellent receivers who he will be competing with.

The NFL draft is slated for April 29-May 1.
