Minnesota’s wide receiver unit just got a lot better.

On Wednesday, Golden Gophers wide receiver Rashod Bateman announced on social media that his waiver to return to the program after declaring for the NFL Draft has been approved by the NCAA. He was the B1G’s second-leading receiver in 2019, behind teammate Tyler Johnson.

In addition to his return for Minnesota, Bateman also announced that he will be switching jersey numbers for the season. He will be trading in the No. 13 for No. 0, which was just approved by the NCAA for the upcoming season.

“This season I will be wearing No. 0 because there is zero tolerance for racism in this culture,” Bateman said in the video. “And there is zero doubt about what this program stands for.”

Bateman totaled 1,219 yards and 11 touchdowns for Minnesota last season during the team’s 11-2 campaign. He is projected as a first-round draft selection by several media outlets and will be one of the top rececivers in the country.

Minnesota opens the 2020 campaign at home against No. 23 Michigan in the battle for the Little Brown Jug.
