Minnesota wide receiver Rashod Bateman is off to an impressive start, and he is on track to eclipse a career milestone in near-record time.

Though just a sophomore, Bateman has already established himself as one of Minnesota’s go-to players. He is the perfect compliment to Tyler Johnson and has already come up clutch this season.

Through 15 career games, Bateman has 63 catches for 941 yards and 8 TDs. According to Minnesota Football, that leaves Batemen well on track to become the second-fast Gopher to hit the 1,000-yards receiving milestone.

The fastest Minnesota player to the milestone was Ryan Thelwell who eclipsed 1,000 yards in 15 games over 1994-95. When he eclipses the mark, Bateman will become just the 26th Minnesota player ever with 1,000 receiving yards.

Bateman is just 59 yards shy of the mark and is averaging 118 yards a game to start the season. With Georgia Southern visiting this weekend, Bateman should have a great shot to hit the mark on Saturday.
