Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck will receive a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season, according to the Pioneer Press. Per a source, the announcement is expected to be made Friday and will need approval from the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents.

Fleck received a one-year extension prior to season’s end a year ago after initially agreeing to a five-year, $18 million contract in January 2017. The new deal would expire in January 2024.

Minnesota earned its first bowl bid under Fleck after beating Wisconsin 37-15 in the regular season finale to become eligible at 6-6 (3-6 B1G). The Gophers will face off against Georgia Tech (7-5) in the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit on Dec. 26.
