Minnesota is losing a player from its No. 38-ranked 2018 recruiting class.

True freshman offensive tackle Grant Norton (6-foot-8, 260 pounds) has left the Gophers football program, a school spokesman told the Pioneer Press on Wednesday evening. Though he has yet to officially announce his departure, his profile has been removed from the team’s athletic website.

Norton hadn’t seen action in his debut season and was likely to redshirt. Per 247Sports, the Camdenton, Mo. native was a three-star prospect and the No. 13 overall recruit from the state of Missouri. He picked Minnesota over 11 other offers, including Nebraska, Purdue, UCF, and Wisconsin.

Norton is the second Gophers recruit in the ’18 class to leave the program, following quarterback Vic Viramontes in June.
