Minnesota senior running back Shannon Brooks was arrested overnight on probable cause for an alleged domestic assault incident, according to a report from 5 Eyewitness News’ Darren Wolfson:

We will provide more details once the story develops.

Brooks has been on the shelf the entire season recovering from a torn ACL suffered during winter workouts this past offseason and was set to return to the depth chart in a few weeks. Per the Star Tribune, coach P.J. Fleck’s plan was to plug Brooks in and let him play four games in 2018 and then use a medical redshirt so that he had full eligibility for 2019. That will obviously be put on hold until this plays out.

A big-time contributor the last three seasons, Brooks has 2,030 all-purpose yards and 19 touchdowns in his career with the Golden Gophers, averaging over 5.1 yards per carry.
