Minnesota’s basketball program has taken another hit.

247Sports is reporting that senior forward Brandon Johnson is the latest Golden Gopher to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Johnson transferred into Minnesota from Western Michigan before the start of the 2020-21 season.

With Johnson entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal, there are now eight players from Minnesota’s 2020-21 roster in the transfer portal. He joins Marcus Carr, Liam Robbins, Gabe Kalschuer, Tre Williams, Jamal Mashburn Jr., Sam Freeman and Jarvis Omersa.

In his lone season at Minnesota, Johnson started in 24 games and played in 28. He averaged 8.9 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting over 46% from the floor.

Johnson has played in 121 career games at the college level. He’s averaging 10.4 points and 6.4 boards per contest over his four seasons.

Minnesota made a coaching change following the end of the season, firing Richard Pitino after eight years at the helm. Ben Johnson was named the next head coach of the program a week later.
