Former Minnesota guard Marcus Carr is close to naming his next destination.

He’s down to four schools, according to multiple reports. None of them are in the Big Ten: Kansas, Texas, Louisville and Kentucky.

Carr was quietly one of the best guards in the nation last season for the Golden Gophers. He scored 19.4 points per game while shooting an efficient 15.6 shots per game. He made nearly 80 percent of his free throws on a volume of 6.7 attempts per contest.

He’s also a talented passer, averaging 4.9 assists per game as a junior with Minnesota.

Carr entered the transfer portal back in March after the departure of Richard Pitino. He also tested the NBA Draft waters, but ultimately decided to return to college.

This will be Carr’s third college after he played his freshman season at Pittsburgh. He then sat out the 2018-19 season before having two stellar seasons with the Golden Gophers.

There is no timetable for his decision.
