Report: Minnesota without three key defenders for Quick Lane Bowl
Three key Minnesota defenders won’t be participating in the Quick Lane Bowl against Georgia Tech, according to a report.
Shortly before kickoff between the Golden Gophers and Yellow Jackets, Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press reported that linebacker Kamal Martin and defensive tackles O.J. Smith and Jamaal Teague didn’t participate in pre-game warmups at Ford Field. Head coach P.J. Fleck will reportedly address the status of the three players after the game.
Fleck said a week ago that at least one starter would miss the Quick Lane Bowl due to a violation of team rules. There were also some players who would miss Wednesday’s game because of injury.
Martin played in all 12 games, recording 59 tackles for the Gophers. Smith has recorded seven tackles and Teague has eight stops this year. Martin and Smith combined to start a total of 14 games this season. Teague played in seven contests.
Minnesota and Georgia Tech square off at Ford Field at 5:15 p.m. ET.
