Rodney Smith’s beautiful cutback, big gain sets up Minnesota’s opening TD

The Golden Gophers are wasting no time putting up points in their bid to stay undefeated!

Minnesota is squaring off with Nebraska under the lights in TCF Bank Stadium. It is expected to be a good game, and Minnesota raced out to a quick 7-0 lead.

The big play of this drive turned out to be a run by Rodney Smith. The running back took a handoff and headed left but his path appeared to be cut off. However, Smith hit a nice cutback and found plenty of space down the middle of the field.

His run set the Gophers up in Nebraska territory:

Minnesota went all the way down inside Nebraska’s red zone and set up shop on the 15-yard line. From there, Tanner Morgan and Chris Autman-Bell executed a beautiful screen that went for a score.

The Cornhuskers didn’t have an answer for the Gopher offense on this drive:
