Tanner Morgan leaves Week 7 action vs. Illinois, carted to locker room for evaluation
Tanner Morgan was carted off to the locker room after a significant hit to the head as Minnesota takes on No. 24 Illinois on the road. The Golden Gophers are turning to freshman quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis to lead a potential comeback down 23-14 early in the fourth quarter.
Kaliakmanis only played 4 games in his collegiate career with all of them coming this season. He has completed 3-of-5 of his passes for 67 yards.
The defense of the Fighting Illini is having a great performance against the passing game as they’ve allowed only 4-of-14 passes to be completed for 21 yards through the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. Morgan also threw an interception in Minnesota’s first drive of the game.
The offense of Minnesota is one-dimensional as the rushing game is the only source of productivity through the first 3 quarters.
The offense of Illinois, however, is having a stellar game as the Fighting Illini have accumulated 455 total, with 211 of them coming from the rushing game.
