Minnesota’s busy month of June continued on Monday, as the program received another commitment, this one from a talented safety out of Texas.

Abner Dubar, a three-star safety out of Anna, Texas, gave his verbal commitment to the Golden Gophers on Monday, dropping a video on Twitter to make the announcement. He becomes the 20th player to commit to Minnesota in the 2020 class.

Dubar held multiple Big 12 offers, including Texas Tech, Baylor and Kansas, as well as Pac-12 offers from Colorado and Washington State. But it was Minnesota that Dubar had his heart set on.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Dubar is one of the top 150 players out of the state of Texas, a state overflowing with football talent. He’s also considered to be the No. 53 safety in the 2020 class.

With Dubar’s commitment, Minnesota is now flirting with the nation’s top 25 recruiting class, currently sitting at No. 26 overall. In the B1G, the Gophers are at No. 5.
