Transfer portal the next stop for Minnesota WR
A Minnesota wide receiver has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
Per Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press, walk-on receiver True Thompson has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal and will explore his options outside the Twin Cities. He is the son of Darrell Thompson, who is a Gophers running back legend.
Thompson entered the portal a month after the 2020 season came to an end for Minnesota. The Golden Gophers finished the season with a 3-4 record.
Notes: Former #Gophers defensive tackle Andrew Stelter says he will returns to U of M to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy after seeking pro career (XFL and AAF).
And current U walk-on receiver True Thompson, son of legend Darrell Thompson, entered transfer portal Tuesday.

Thompson spent two seasons at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to Minnesota. He appeared in 10 games at that level and made 4 catches for 65 yards. He has been at Minnesota since the 2018 season but has not seen any game action in three years.
In 2020, Thompson was an Academic All-B1G player.
Thompson was a redshirt senior in 2020. Because of the NCAA’s blanket waiver for all student-athletes for the 2020 season, Thompson will have one year of eligibility left.
