When Big Ten Network host Dave Revsine asked Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck for his thoughts on the B1G’s decision to reinstate the football season, it was summed up with two words: “We’re back!”

Fleck joined Big Ten Network on Wednesday morning following the B1G’s decision to reinstate the football season. The schedule is set to begin the weekend of Oct. 24 with each team playing nine games in a conference-only setting.

“We’re back!” Fleck said on Wednesday. “We had a team Zoom this morning and we were so thankful. Everybody was so excited to be back, playing football, doing what we love. Whether it’s coaching, whether it’s playing, especially with the new safety protocols in place, I think you killed two birds with one stone.

“We’re very excited about having a date we know we can look forward to and get back on the field here soon.”

Minnesota is coming off an 11-2 season in 2019, one of the best years in program history. The Golden Gophers return a ton of talent on both sides of the football and are expected to be contenders for a division title in 2020.
