What P.J. Fleck said at Minnesota's weekly press conference
The start of B1G play hasn’t been very kind to Minnesota.
A few weeks ago, the Gophers opened conference play with a 42-13 loss to Maryland. After a bye week, Minnesota dropped a 48-31 contest to Iowa to drop to 0-2 in league play this year. And things don’t get any easier this week, as P.J. Fleck and Co. travel to Columbus to take on No. 3 Ohio State.
Fleck held his weekly press conference on Tuesday to talk about Saturday’s loss to the Hawkeyes and preview this weekend’s game against the Buckeyes.
While Fleck understands how talented Ohio State is this season, he was more focused on making sure Minnesota improves this week, more so than anything the Buckeyes are doing.
Here’s what he had to say on Tuesday:
"I think you're starting to see the development of a really special wide receiver unit here at the University of Minnesota." -Coach Fleck, on the performance of wide receivers in team's last game.

"You've got to be able to stop the run in this league. Period." -Fleck, on what the team's defense will be working on.

"Daniel [Faalele] is a guy that can handle a lot… I feel like at this point, he can play." -Fleck, on starting Faalele on the offensive line at Ohio State.

"It's the details, the small, small details. The alignment, the depth, the ability to set the edge." -Fleck, on what will make the #Gophers defense more successful on third down.

"Everything is the next right step for the program. It's one game. One game won't make or break your season." -Fleck, on what a win over a ranked team would mean for the program.

"Row the boat. Ski U Mah. Go Gophers"
That concludes Coach Fleck's press conference today. Stay tuned for more information ahead of this weekend's game at Ohio State.
