The season-ending rivalry game between Wisconsin and Minnesota will be the most meaningful matchup between the two in quite some time. If the Badgers and Gophers win this weekend, it’ll set up a showdown for Paul Bunyan’s Axe and a B1G West title.

But getting Wisconsin fans interested in traveling to Minneapolis for the showdowns has proven to be difficult, and now, Minnesota may have even more of a home field advantage in a few weeks.

Wisconsin has returned more than 600 tickets to Minnesota, allowing more Gophers fans the opportunity to see their team clinch a division title for the first time in program history. Minnesota Athletics’ official Twitter account shared the news.

It’s interesting that more Wisconsin fans didn’t jump at the chance for tickets considering what may be on the line in two weeks.

Minnesota and Wisconsin are knotted at 60-60-8 in the all-time series. The Badgers had won 14 straight games in the rivalry until dropping last season’s contest to the Gophers in Madison.

Wisconsin currently sits at 8-2 and Minnesota 9-1 heading into this weekend.
