A Minnesota wide receiver has decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal after just one season with the program.

Ryan Burns of 247Sports is reporting that receiver Brady Boyd has decided to enter the portal and explore options outside the Twin Cities. The Southlake, Texas native was a 3-star member of the Golden Gophers’ 2021 class.

Boyd, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound receiver, appeared in 8 games as a true freshman at Minnesota. He was credited with 2 catches for 18 yards, including a long of 12 yards in the Gophers’ victory over Nebraska. Boyd also hauled in a reception in a win over Maryland.

As a high school recruit, Boyd was ranked as one of the Top 100 receivers of the cycle and was the No. 88 overall prospect out of the state of Texas. He held over a dozen offers, eventually picking Minnesota over Arkansas State, Boise State, Kansas, Liberty, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Tulane, Tulsa and Utah at the FBS level.

Boyd will have 3 years of eligibility to utilize at his next destination. He was high school teammates with former 5-star quarterback Quinn Ewers, who recently hit the transfer portal after 1 season at Ohio State.
