Nebraska basketball just lost 2 important pieces. One was an assistant coach, and one was a freshman guard to the transfer portal. Head coach Fred Hoiberg quickly made sure that they weren’t going to lose another.

Matt Abdelmassih and the Cornhuskers agreed to mutually part ways with the assistant coach. This was followed by freshman center Eduardo Andre hitting the transfer portal. Andre  appeared in 29 games for the Cornhuskers this past season and averaged 3.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and shot 57% from the floor.

After losing those 2 in a matter of days, Hoiberg went ahead and made sure the team didn’t lose the commitment of center Blaise Keita per Jimmy Watkins of the Omaha-World Herald. Keita is listed as a 3-star center from Coffeyville C.C Junior College on the 247Sports JUCO Composite. He is the No.1 center from the JUCO class of 2022.

Keita told Hoiberg that despite Abdelmassih’s departure, he will be still committed to Nebraska basketball. The Cornhuskers currently have the 7th-best 2022 recruiting class in the B1G. Keita would be the 2nd player to transfer into the program. Nebraska has 1 4-star recruit, and 3 3-star recruits in its class.

Keita’s statline at Coffeyville C.C. is 10.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks a game.
