Adrian Martinez had a monster first quarter as Nebraska starts hot vs. Northwestern
It was a matter of time before Nebraska would start seeing some progress under fourth-year head coach Scott Frost.
Nebraska is off to a 21-7 start at home vs. Northwestern thanks to some huge plays from dual-threat quarterback Adrian Martinez. He has accumulated 123 total yards and 3 touchdowns in the first quarter.

In the first play from scrimmage, Martinez ran a play-action pass to wide receiver Samori Toure. This would eventually set up a one-yard touchdown run two plays later. The Cornhuskers only needed a six-play drive for a one-yard RPO play from Martinez in their second drive.
In the third drive for Nebraska, the team took an 11-play drive to wear down the Northwestern defense that resulted in a 25-yard touchdown run from Martinez. This is the hottest start of the 2021 season for the Huskers under the direction of their dual-threat quarterback.
